Tip Time Tuesday

I don't know about you, but I look forward to Tip Time Tuesday every week! I love seeing all the unique tips the Kiwi Designers come up with using the templates. Todays Tip is extremely simple but wow, what a statement it will make on your 12x12 scrapbook layouts!

I was so excited to finally get the chance to scrap a favorite family picture of a bike ride we took in Leadville Colorado. The new "Stars & Stripes" collection by doodlebug had the perfect piece of pattern paper to use for my scrapbook layout. Check out those adorable bikes!

Are you ready for todays tip? I created the floral background on my scrapbook layout using Celebrate 8. With just a few simple steps you too can create a one of a kind floral background.

Step 1.
Trace and cut out Celebrate 8, six times.

Step 2.
Fold Celebrate 8 in half overlapping, creating a straight edge on the bottom. Do this to all 6.

Step 3.
Now that you have all 6 folded, arrange each folded template onto your background paper making sure the straight edge is positioned towards the middle and the points on the ends touch. You will begin to see the pattern take shape. Once you're happy with the placement, glue in place.

I wanted my floral background to pop off my page so I added a bit of doodling with a white gel pen around each folded template. I love how it added just the right amount of pop! I think todays tip would be so fun to use with double sided paper on a solid background. I can't wait to give that a try!

Thanks for joining me today for Tip Time Tuesday

Weekend Whimsy - Patriotic Home Decor

Hello crafty friends!

Thanks for joining me today for Kiwi Lane's Weekend Whimsy. I had the honor of creating with the new doodlebug collection “Stars & Stripes”.  I love how patriotic this collection is so I decided to create 2 home decor items to display during the month of July.

Home Decor Project #1 “Patriotic Flag Light”

For this home decor project I used Chestnut Drive 3A & 3B to create the stripes for the flag. I traced the top curve of both templates to create a thin stripe. Once I had all my stripes traced and cut out, I then adhered them to my Deco Glass block alternating the color.

I used Celebrate 4, the pinwheel template to create a fun embellishment to add to the corner of my Patriotic Flag Light. I used 2 different patterns of paper altering the template design. I love the layered look of Celebrate 4!

After adhering my pinwheel embellishment, I then added a small strand of white holiday lights to the inside of my Deco Block. I finished off my Patriotic Flag Light by wrapping red wired ribbon around the block and adding some doodlebug grosgrain ribbon to the top.

Home Decor Project #2 "Patriotic Pinwheel Wreath"

I love displaying wreaths outside on my front door but for this home decor project, I created an indoor wreath. I used the Celebrate 4 template again to create the pinwheels on the wreath. I wanted to create more of a 3D look to the pinwheels, I glued only the tips together not adhering them down to the center. Once I created all 6 3D pinwheels, I placed each one onto a pinwheel which I left flat.

I had so much fun creating both of these home decor projects using my Kiwi Lane templates and the Stars & Stripes collection by doodlebug. Be sure to share your Kiwi inspired home decor projects with us over on our Facebook

Happy Scrapping!

Other supplies used: doodlebug Stars & Stripes Jewels; grosgrain ribbon; sticker embellishments, iamroses white flowers, clear bling, Celebrate stars garland, grapevine wreath, red wire ribbon, twine

Sympathy Card

Is it just me or is it just so hard to create a sympathy card?
Last week someone special I know lost her father. Since I don't live near her, I want to send a card to let her know I'm thinking of her and her family. I didn't want the card to feel sad, if you know what I mean. Death for me is a celebration of that loved ones life here on earth and I know that this friend has been celebrating her dad's life!

I wanted to add a softness to my card by adding the Crochet flower spray along with the purple S10 flowers. Both of these flowers are among some of my most favorites from I Am Roses.
I colored this sweet image with my Spectrum Noir markers and added some
white highlights with a gel pen.

We are not promised tomorrow, live your life to the fullest. Be sure to hug your loved ones today!!!

IAR "Journal Me This" Challenge

Thanks for stopping by!

I am excited about sharing todays dt project with you I created for the IAR design team.

I Am Roses is hosting a challenge this month, "Journal Me This".  Be sure to stop by the IAR blog and view the details on how you can join our challenge.

For this challenge flat flowers/petals must be used, so I decided to use Puffy Daisies. I love using these daisies on my projects especially if I'm creating a scrapbook layout. If you love adding flowers to your layouts but don't wont the added bulk, Puffy Daisies are the perfect flower!

I love how fluffy and dreamy this layout is! I'd say it's a favorite of mine!!!

I started out by covering a white 12x12 piece of card stock with the Puffy Daisies altering the rows. After glueing on all the daisies I then sprayed my layout with Scintillating Silver by Lindy Stamp Gang to give the flower just a little bit of sparkle. Because this challenge also has to do with journaling I added a cute butterfly bag behind my photo to add my hidden journaling. I then added a few more IAR flowers, R76, and R21 to pull in some more color along with a few wood embellishment and finished off my layout with a wrap of seam binding with a bow.

Come join the IAR "Journal Me This" Challenge going on right now. Be sure to stop by the IAR Blog for all the details on how you can enter this months challenge.
I'd also like to introduce our newest dt member to the I Am Roses Family, Donna Smith! Be sure to check out Donna's blog for lots of inspirations!

I can't wait to see what you create!
Thanks for stopping by and happy Scrapping!
