Scrapbook Layout - Children are the flowers...

...in the Garden of Life.

Thanks for joining me today! I'm excited to share with you a scrapbook layout I create to be displayed in a scrapbook frame. I wanted to create something really special for a close friend of mine. She just recently celebrated her birthday, and being a scrapbooker her self, I knew she would appreciate a gift like this.
I got my hands on one of her favorite photos of her two kiddos, altered it and added the saying "Children are the flowers in the garden of life" to the photo and begin my creative journey of creating her gift.

I wanted to add a mixture of various iamroses flower to this layout creating a flower garden. I love how the flowers are accenting the photo and how it draws you into the photo to read the caption. I am so happy with the way this scrapbook layout turned out! I've already given it to her and she loved it! It even brought tears to her eyes as well as mine! A moment I'll never forget!

Here's a look at all the beautiful iamroses flowers I used.

Tip Time Tuesday - Make Your Own Wood Embellishments

Wow, I can't believe it's May which means summer is just around the corner! I'm so excited to finally see the snow gone and to feel the warmth of the sun!  For todays Tip Time Tuesday I pulled out some fun templates from the Playtime collection along with stamps from our friends at Technique Tuesday. I must admit I'm like Kristy Lee, I was a bit worried about stamping, but WoW, I had so much fun using the Technique Tuesday's stamps on todays tip, and I can't wait to share with you what I created!

First off, I love the fact that I can use my Kiwi templates and "frame" what my scrapbook layout is going to look like before I start cutting into my papers. This is a great jumping off point and it's always fun to take a picture of this step and compare it to your final scrapbook layout.

I don't know about you, but I love wood veneer embellishments and sometimes you just can't find the perfect wood embellishments to match your project. So for todays Tip Time Tuesday I created my own wood embellishments using 1/32" thin balsa wood and my Playtime templates 3, 6, & 7.

Step 1. Trace your templates onto the balsa wood, cut out the designs being really careful. This balsa wood being on 1/32" thin is very fragile. I found it very easy to cut with a good pair of scissors and for smaller areas I used my craft knife.

Step 2. Carefully ink the edges of your wood embellishments. If you find some of the edges are a little rough, just gently sand them by hand before inking.

Step 3. I wanted to add a sentiment to my wood embellishment created from Playtime 6 so I used one of the Technique Tuesday stamps from the Dear Time by Ali Edwards and stamped directly onto my wood embellishment. I love how easy the Technique Tuesday stamps were to use on wood!

Here's my final scrapbook layout using my own wood embellishments made from my Kiwi Lane templates and stamps from our friends at Technique Tuesday.

I had a blast creating this layout and I can't wait to try this tip with other templates!

Here's a quick card I created using my left over supplies.

Thanks for joining me today for Tip Time Tuesday! Can't wait to see all your custom wood embellishment using Kiwi Lane templates!

Happy Scrapping!
