Photo Memory Board

Hello crafty friends! I'm beyond excited to be sharing my Weekend Whimsy project with you. I had one of those A'ha moments when I was looking through all the pictures I've been taking with my phone. Most of the pictures I take with my phone are just random everyday activites of my life and family. I don't always feel like going through the process of downloading them, organizing them and deciding which ones are scrap worthy. Obviously I took the pictures for a reason so for todays Weekend Whimsy project, I created a "Photo Memory Board". A place to display the photos I really love, along with our most current event(s). I wanted it to be fun and bright and the My Girl paper collection by My Mind's Eye was perfect along with their chipboard elements, label stickers and decorative buttons.

I needed a firm foundation for my Photo Memory Board, and ta'da' I happen to have this zebra printed memo board. It was perfect!

The first step which I find extremely important is the framing process. This process helps me get an idea of just what my project might look like when it's all done.

My goal was to create individual photo areas for all the photos I wanted to display. I wanted a Polaroid frame on my Photo Memory Board so I created one using the photo templates 3 1/2 X 3 1/2 and 4x6. I just love how adorable my polaroid turned out!

Here's a look at my finished "Photo Memory Board" without photo's.  Just look at how cute that My Girl paper collection looks!

And here's a look at my "Photo Memory Board" with photo's and a close up of my polaroid frame displaying a picture.

I'm having so much fun being apart of the Kiwi Lane Design team! I am in love with all their  Designer templates! I promise you won't be disappointed!  I can't imagine not having them as a part of my arsenal of scrapbook supplies! Can you tell I am in love with Kiwi Lane templates!!! I love them so much that I will be giving away a set of templates (Wacky Accessory) here too. To enter my giveaway you must be a follower on my blog and when you leave a comment be sure to leave an email address so I can contact you if you win. I will choose a winner on Tuesday June 11th.

For this hop I create a two page layout of my boys washing my car for Mothers Day. Water and boys equals a lot of bubble trouble! LOL!

First, I framed out my layout, which helps me see a rough draft of what my layout will look like. I usually end up changing a few things around, but for the most part I'm  usually happy with the way it looks.

Framing Process

Here's my finished layout!

Kiwi Lane templates I used to create this layout include:
Adventure 3, 4, & 6
Aspen 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B
Accents 5T
1" Strip
4x5 Photo templates, & 4x6 Photo templates

Here's a little tip I did to create the slim arrows pointing at my boys.
*Trace Adventure 3 just the triangle shape, slide the template down just a little bit, trace again and cut out. Do this as many times as needed to create just the look you're wanting. This creates a fun embellishment on any layout or card.

Here's another look at some of the templates I used. I love how I added glossy accents to Adventure 6 to make it look like a water blob! So fun!!!

Thanks for joining me! Next stop on the hop is Karen.

Here is the blog line up just incase you are hopping out of order.

Happy Scrapping!

IAR June Color Challenge "Someone Special"

Welcome to the I Am Roses "Someone Special" Blog Challenge.

For June's IAR Color Challenge I had to incorporate the colors brown/black and use metal. I decided with Father's day coming up, I wanted to create something special for my husband, so I created a word mini album that spells out the word "FATHER".  I haven't added any photo to the mini yet,  since I'm hoping to get some great photos of my husband this coming father's day with the kids.

I admit I had fun creating this mini and I feel this color challenge has made me step outside my creative box! I don't use browns/blacks or even metal on my projects that often, and well, I think it turned out just the way I had envisioned it.

Be sure to stop by the iamroses blog to check out all the rules on how you can play along with our June Color Challenge.

iamroses flowers used on this mini include: S10 flowers in cream, blue, & Tan. Small ivory crochet flowers ZJC1, T26 Ivory Rose buds, & R40 Brown/Black Roses
